Halfway to the Grave was Jeaniene Frost's debut novel, but one could be fooled into thinking she had been writing for years.
The story follows Catherine 'Cat' Crawfield, who at the tender age of sixteen finds out her mother was raped by a newly turned vampire and she is a human/vampire halfbreed. Fuelled by her mothers hate for the man who attacked her, and the deep hatred within herself for what she is, the story follows Cat as she hits the bars determined to avenge her mother by eliminating as many of 'those murderers' as she can.
During a chance encounter on one of her hunts, Cat meets Bones a master vampire and vampire bounty hunter who just happens to have the added bonus of being incredibly sexy. Together they work to bring down a white slave ring run by a very dangerous vampire and his powerful connections, all while Bones teaches her the finer points of vampire hunting, and ultimately to love him.
There is no shortage of good fight scenes or hot steamy sex but as the story progresses you are drawn into their lives and the journey undertaken by Cat as she learns to love herself for who she is. Can't wait to read where Cat's story will take her next.
I hope you have enjoyed my first review. Hugs Pinky
