The Emerald Quest (The Noah Winters Adventure Series)

Author: Renée Pawlish
Published: 2012
Genre: Action/Adventure
Pinky's Rating (out of 5): 4 stars

In The Emerald Quest we are introduced to Frank and Riley Winter, their son Noah and assistant Anthony Napolitano.
The Winters are modern day treasure hunters who have been tasked with finding the mysterious ‘De La Rosa Emerald’.
We are drawn into the mystery and intrigue of this story from the first page, as Noah helps to solve the riddle of the location of the emerald, and is involved with kidnapping, great escapes and pirates along the way.

This is an amazing, fast paced, and action packed adventure book for all ages that is sure to entertain. I can’t wait for Noah’s next adventure.

I was privileged enough to a beta reader for this novel before its release, and now that it is available I am going to buy a copy for my Nephew for his birthday!

Impeding Justice

Author: Mel Comley
Published: 2010
Pages: 295
Genre: Thriller/Suspense
Pinky's Rating (out of 5): 4 stars

We are plunged head on into the story of Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins as she battles her nemesis, The Unicorn.

After loosing her partner DS Pete Childs when they are lured into a trap, Lorne has to find a way to keep one step ahead of The Unicorn. It is only when she enlists the help of Tony Warner of MI6, things start to fall into place. There is a Mole in the ranks. Not to be perturbed by his inside help being sprung, The Unicorn continues to find ways to inflict emotional pain and suffering on Lorne... he starts to involve her family.

If you are looking for a novel that is going to get your attention and then leave you wanting more, then this is it.

Mel Comley has woven a story of murder, terrorism, rape and kidnap with just a hint of innuendo (with Pathologist Jacques Arnaud) into a compelling story, and just when you think Lorne has taken all she can, she is plunged even further into hell with one final twist, that leaves me rushing to purchase Final Justice.

Maybe (a Donovan Creed Novel)

Author: John Locke
Published: December 2011
Pages: 191
Genre: Thriller/Suspense
Pinky's Rating (out of 5): 5 stars

My dad originally recommended John Locke and the amazing Donovan Creed to me about twelve months ago.

After devouring the first seven novels in no time, I then had to wait (rather impatiently I might add) until The Love You Crave and then Maybe were released.

The story synopsis reads: "When an angry, unemployed chemist unleashes a bio-terrorist attack against women and children, the president of the United States asks Donovan Creed to get involved. It’s just one more thing on Creed’s plate".

Combine that with the continuing story of Donovan's daugher and the ongoing tensions with Darwin and Lou Kelly and you have one hell of a story with more twists and turns than a garden maze. To put too much more into this review would give away all the secrets!

What can I say, Maybe is intriguing, action packed, laugh out loud funny, and filled with surprises. I can't wait to see what happens next !

Halfway To The Grave (Night Huntress #1)

Author: Jeaniene Frost
Published: Avon, 2007
Pages: 358 (plus bonus material)
Genre: Romance/Urban Fantasy
Pinky's Rating (out of 5): 4 stars

Halfway to the Grave was Jeaniene Frost's debut novel, but one could be fooled into thinking she had been writing for years.

The story follows Catherine 'Cat' Crawfield, who at the tender age of sixteen finds out her mother was raped by a newly turned vampire and she is a human/vampire halfbreed. Fuelled by her mothers hate for the man who attacked her, and the deep hatred within herself for what she is, the story follows Cat as she hits the bars determined to avenge her mother by eliminating as many of 'those murderers' as she can.

During a chance encounter on one of her hunts, Cat meets Bones a master vampire and vampire bounty hunter who just happens to have the added bonus of being incredibly sexy.  Together they work to bring down a white slave ring run by a very dangerous vampire and his powerful connections, all while Bones teaches her the finer points of vampire hunting, and ultimately to love him.

There is no shortage of good fight scenes or hot steamy sex but as the story progresses you are drawn into their lives and the journey undertaken by Cat as she learns to love herself for who she is. Can't wait to read where Cat's story will take her next.

I hope you have enjoyed my first review. Hugs Pinky
