Blurb:

An otherworldly, evil and dangerous force infests America’s oldest and most haunted city, St. Augustine, Florida. Everyone living there, or visiting, is at risk in ways too horrible to imagine.

Standing between this invader and the people of St. Augustine are teenagers Jeff and Carla, the mysterious Native American shaman, Lobo, and Lyle, the homeless guy.

In their quest to save themselves and all the inhabitants of this ancient Florida city, Jeff and Carla uncover lost parts of St. Augustine history, push past the limits of space and time, and come face-to-face with what they come to realize are the true walking dead.

Excerpt:

Through all of those experiences, I came to believe in the existence of worlds beyond the one most people know and abilities all people have right beneath the surface of their awareness whether they ever learn to use them or not.

“But survive you both did,” Lobo replied to my unspoken thoughts. “And you were changed in the process. You and Carla have continued to mature at a much faster rate than most teenagers do, whether you know it or not. This has to do with changes in body chemistry and brain configuration that I won’t even begin to explain.”

Mature? Me? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“True, Carla was way ahead of you when you first met her, but your multiple and intense interactions with other realities has made a tremendous difference in you specifically. It isn’t just me who sees this change. Carla and her grandmother remark on it all the time. Your self-control,
your ability to think more clearly and your better decision making are quite evident.”

The man’s words continued to be so different from the critical way he treated me when we first met that I didn’t know what to think.

“This increased maturity also comes out in both your verbal and written communications.”

“As you know, I’ve read a few of the reports you’ve done in school as well as some of your essays. It isn’t any wonder you’re getting excellent grades where you were failing before. Like Carla, you already had superior intelligence, but it is increasing at a rapid pace.”

“The one thing that strikes me above all others, however, is that you now read everything you can get your hands on from novels to nonfiction subjects that interest you. When we first met, you rarely read anything.”

About the Author:
A former award-winning educator, Doug writes about things paranormal and historical. His interest in the paranormal comes from personal experiences as detailed in the nonfiction adult book he and wife wrote titled, AN EXPLOSION OF BEING: AN AMERICAN FAMILY'S JOURNEY INTO THE PSYCHIC. Doug set his trilogy in the oldest and most haunted city in the United States, St. Augustine, Florida not only for those reasons, but also because it's his favorite place to visit.
