Author Bio

Rylee Everley Series by S.M. Knowles

S.M. Knowles was born in Elmira, New York where she was swept away in a whirlwind to the Land of Oz--Independence, Kansas. Her parents were relocating for working opportunities and decided that this would be the perfect place to start new roots. Little did she know that this place would contribute to the inspiration for the first book she wrote in her Rylee Everley Series.
While growing up, S.M. would travel the roads around her house while imagining she was somewhere else. Her imagination would take her everywhere, making the long hot summer days seem shorter throughout her fantasies.

At the age of twelve, she decided to write her first book. Filled mostly with dialog, she filled up one-hundred pages, front and back. After taking the book downstairs to show her mom, and persuading her to buy her more paper, she excitedly ran back to her room. As she barreled through the door, S.M. tripped over items left on her floor, and her papers came raining down in her room. Discouraged, she stood there in tears, picking up her papers and throwing them in the trash. Her work had no organization, no numbers on her pages, just a child fulfilling a joy that she would put down and not pick up again.

When she became older, she joined the military for something different. In that time, she was able to explore many places and even met her husband in Iraq. After coming home, she started her family in Arizona and went back to school, earning a Master's degree in Adult Education and Training.

TRIPP
(My Way Series #2)
by: HJ Bellus

Synopsis:

Lacey’s Story…

Covering up pain is easy. It’s keeping it tucked away that’s hard. I’ve always needed the cover of tattoos to hide the nasty past that leached its way into me, tainting me beneath my skin.

Not the shiny, trendy tats, but the ugly broken kind, meant to keep the world at bay. If they weren’t enough, then my piercings, foul mouth and crazy hair usually did the trick. Life had taught me to never follow the rules, because when you do, you get burned.

My life was perfectly imperfect until Tripp…

Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp was sexy as hell, a charismatic beast, and soon became one of my best friends. We shared a love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could only lead to a beautiful train wreck.

The only question left is, will we set the countryside ablaze with our hot tempers and foul mouths? Or will we paint our own happy ending filled with all the gushy shit normal people crave?

When I entered the bar’s main bar area, I stopped dead in my tracks. Suddenly, all the blood rushed to my head and my palms began to sweat profusely. Sitting in a chair directly in front of me was the handsomest man I had ever seen or, as they would say in Greek, an “Adonis”. His muscles rippled out from under his sleeves and his smile could probably light the sky when dark. OMG, and those amber eyes…I felt hypnotized by them. His dark caramel colored skin and tight curls made my mouth water. I knew I looked like a fool standing there staring at him, but I couldn’t break my eyes away. Once he looked over at me, I broke my gaze. I couldn’t let him catch me gawking at him.  Where had I seen this man before?

All of a sudden, I felt a push from behind and I fell forward. Feeling and probably looking flushed, I looked up to see the Adonis had his hand out in front of me. I was afraid to take it because I knew my own hand was sweaty, but I gave in and took his hand anyway. Time froze as my hand entered into his. There was a questionable look on his face; he was glaring at the man who had pushed me forward.  He yelled, “Hey arse, watch where you’re going!” The man turned and looked at him as if he was going to come back over to us. Instead, he just cursed under his breath and continued walking.  “Are you okay, Miss?” he asked in his Aurian accent. What was it with guys and accents? Most American women fall over themselves for a man with an exotic accent.  I was dazed and confused, trying to process everything that had just happened. “Miss, Miss,” he grumbled.

Fading back into the moment, I finally stated, “Yes, I’m fine.  Thanks”. I thought I was going to drop dead from embarrassment. He looked at me with those beautiful amber eyes and I thought, “Oh God, you are gorgeous.”  I peered down at my dress to make sure I was truly alright and noticed a red spot on my dress.

Again, my Adonis spoke, “I think you’re bleeding”.

I removed my hand from his hand and excused myself. I headed as fast as my legs could carry me, without running, to the restroom to get myself cleaned up. Flustered, I pulled my dress up and noticed a long scratch on my lower thigh. I immediately dabbed water onto a paper towel and cleaned the wounded area. “Ahh, that’s better,” I mumbled under my breath. I returned to the bar area to thank the man once again but he was nowhere in sight. I shrugged and sat at a table near the back.  Guess I won’t be seeing him again. I strolled over to the bar to order Roast and Potatoes, my favorite meal here. Finally, my dinner arrived. As I cut into the first slice of roast, I heard the voice again, “Are you sure you’re okay?” he whispered into my ear. His husky voice vibrating sent shivers down my spine. Where in Heaven’s name did he come from? I thought for sure he was gone from the bar a moment ago. I turned around to see him grabbing the back of my chair. We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity.

“Yes, I’m sure,” I answered truthfully. “Thank you again for your help.”

“Sure thing,” he said, “I wouldn’t want a beautiful woman like you getting hurt.” I blushed at his compliment and turned my head back to my plate. When I lifted my eyes to respond, he was gone once again. Was I imagining this person? Where had he gone?  This was the second time that this happened to me.

I am originally from Oklahoma, but have lived several places in my life. I began writing in 2009 when I had a dream about a little girl traveling with her grandmother. In essence that is how Jessie Discovers Christmas was born. I then ventured out into YA and adult romance. I hold a bachelors degree in Fashion Marking and a Masters in Administrative Leadership. I love all things creative and hope to a full-time writing career.

Title: Firestorm
Author: Rory Ni Coileain
Release Date: February 28, 2014
Genre: Erotic Paranormal Romance

Synopsis

Rian Sheridan is a foundling, a Northern Irish Catholic corner boy whose world was destroyed in fire, and reborn the same way, beside an Orangemen’s bonfire last July the Twelfth. A consuming, dimly-remembered pain in his past calls to him, taunting him, daring him to find it and lose himself to it in the S&M underground of Belfast. Cuinn an Dearmad is the last surviving Fae Loremaster, and he’s just seen the beginning of the death of the Realm, the haven of the Fae race. The only hope of stopping it starts with him finding the Prince Royal of Fire he stole from the cradle, and lost in the human world, many years ago. He has a few guesses about where that hope ends, and he doesn’t like any of them. Rian and Cuinn are an impossible pairing, two SoulShared Fae. Any two Fae will strike sparks, but these two Fae are a conflagration. Unable to stand one another, yet drawn into an escalating series of sexual collisions, their passion will either save a world or destroy it.

Firestorm Teaser 4

Excerpt

Shite. Apparently thinking of the male was enough to make him appear. Although, to be honest, if that were the case, Cuinn would have been here several hours and a dozen small fires ago. “I don’t suppose you’d feck off if I asked.” The answering silence went on for so long that Rian finally hauled the pillow off and turned his head toward the voice. Oh, Jaysus. Never had he seen a man so beautiful; the sight stopped his heart. Beauty had never been a concern of his, only what a man was willing to do to him, to bring him closer to what he needed. But there was little of desire in the way the Fae looked at him. Nothing like what he’d grown accustomed to, through the use of his gift, making men want him whether they willed it or no. “I wouldn’t.” There was exhaustion in Cuinn’s voice, as if he’d spent the time since their coffeehouse tryst at some heavy labor. “Though I would, if I had any sense of self-preservation.” There was a sobering, and unsettling, sense of finality to the other Fae’s words. “I’m not after destroying you.” Not that he hadn’t wanted to, a time or two. But the taste of joy he’d had in the coffeehouse had changed all that. Cuinn shook his head. “It’s not your doing.” He seemed about to say something else, but stopped, and sniffed, brows arching as he glanced around the bedroom. “I realize everyone needs a hobby, but arson? Really?” Rian pushed himself up to sit against the headboard, with a sense of deja vu. Had it only been the middle of last night, when Cuinn appeared to him, determined to resist him but doomed to fail? “It helps. A little.”

About the Author

Rory Ni Coileain
I majored in creative writing, back when Respectable Colleges didn’t offer such a major, so I designed it myself – being careful to ensure that I never had to take a class before nine in the morning or take a Hemingway survey course. I was lucky enough to score the wonderful P.C. Hodgell as a major advisor, too, and to spend several years in a writer’s workshop with Eleanor Arnason. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa at the age of nineteen, sent off my first short story to an anthology being assembled by an author I idolized, got one of those rejection letters that you talk about with your therapist until you’re old and gray, and found other things to do, such as corporate law and nightclub singing, for the next thirty years or so, until I discovered, entirely by chance (except that I don’t believe in chance), the world of m/m erotic romance. Now I have a day job as a legal editor that I’m aching to quit, I’m the mother of a high school senior (when did THAT happen?) and a member of my church choir and the St. Mark’s Cathedral Choral Society, and I’m trying frantically to keep up with the adventures of a group of very randy Fae and tree spirits and the humans who can’t seem to help falling in love with them.

Author Interview

Where are you from originally?
Minneapolis, Minnesota. Land of the free and home of the frozen!

Tell us your latest news?
Let’s see… Firestorm (SoulShares #4) is coming out on February 28, Tempted from the Oak (Tales of the Grove #2) is tentatively due out on March 28, and I’m going to be at Rainbow Con in Tampa, Florida from April 17-20.

If you could have a dinner party with any authors from any time in history, who would you choose and why?
Dorothy Parker, because I want her senses of humor and irony and maybe osmosis actually works. Seamus Heaney, because the man was effing brilliant. Shakespeare, so I can find out who he really was and win hundreds of bar bets. And Cormac McCarthy, to thank him for The Road.

What are your current projects?
Working on the next Fae novel, Blowing Smoke. After that, the next in the Tales of the Grove, Bound in Oak. There’s a short story for a naughty fairy tales anthology on the back burner… and somewhere in there I’m probably going to be moving this summer!

What books or authors have influenced your writing?
I grew up on fantasy and science fiction. P.C. Hodgell, Tanith Lee, Diane Duane, Jane Yolen, Ursula K. LeGuin, Elizabeth Hand, John Varley, and Charles de Lint are all strong influences. And Dorothy Parker, I only wish I were half as bitingly funny as she was. And Leon Uris’ Trinity. That’s the book that really got my Irish heritage speaking to me, and a lot of my writing flows from that.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
Wow. That’s a hard one to answer. See, I’ve been going to science fiction conventions since I was 16, which means I’ve already met so many of the authors whose work I love, it’s hard to think of ones I haven’t met! I’d love to meet Ursula K. LeGuin, although I’m afraid I’d hyperventilate and pass out…

Tell us a little about your background. When did you start writing?
I graduated from college at 19 with a degree in creative writing, but the first time I actually submitted a story anywhere outside the college, I got smacked down so hard I just decided not to get up, for a very long time. Almost 30 years. Then I got started role-play writing on Facebook, and that gradually made me realize that I still had it. In fact, I’m sure I was much improved over those very young days, full of 30 years’ worth of stories!

Where do you get your ideas?
Thirty years of reading great fantasy and science fiction. And everything else I could get my hands on, at one time or another, but mostly those.

Can you tell us a little bit about Firestorm?
Twenty-one years ago, Cuinn an Dearmad stole a baby. The Prince Royal of the Demesne of Fire, in the Fae Realm, in fact. He sent him through the Pattern, into the human world, to be raised by a human family. Now Cuinn has to find him again; the Realm is on the brink of losing the magick it needs to survive, and Rian Aodán (now Rian Sheridan, Belfast corner boy, pain slut, and budding spontaneous pyromaniac) is part of the last hope it has.

How long did it take you to complete?
About five months.

Are any of your characters based on real-life friends or acquaintances?
Some of my minor characters, yes – there’s a lawyer friend of Kevin’s, in Hard as Stone, who’s modelled after my favourite professor from law school, and a bad guy lawyer in the same book who’s modelled on a partner at a law firm I used to work at who eventually went to prison for stealing from clients. And I can’t really start a new book until I find pictures of the main characters that speak to me.

Do you ever incorporate yourself into your characters?
There’s at least something of me in every character I write, some trait or quirk or part of their background that’s mine. Sometimes it takes me a while to find it – I was twelve chapters into my latest book before one of the characters finally told me what he was borrowing from me.

Tell us about your cover. Did you design it yourself?
No, my publishers design my covers, although I do have input into the process.

Does your reading inspire you and your work?
Absolutely. At the moment, my writing takes up almost all of my free time, but I have that wonderful 30-year backlog of incredible stories to draw on.
